How to disable a land line phone?

Len Bormes: Lift the receiver for some time the tone/pulse will go of momentarily do not put it back. After some time put it back. Lift it again and there won't be pulse/tone for a temporary period of about 5-6 hrs.

Alphonso Brake: Just unplug the phone. If you want to do it automatically, use a phone jack timer.

Jestine Osumi: Call your service provider, they should be able to help you out. Do you want to completely disable it so no calls come into it? Or do you just want to disable the ringing on the phone in your house? Need to be more specific.

Sharie Sommerville: leave the phone off the hook.. it would be better to do this with a corded phone, as if you do this with a cordless phone and the battery dies, then your line will go back on hook and any other phones will ring again.. calls would still end up going to your voicemail, unless you call your phone company and tell them to cancel the voicemail on your line.....Show more

Hope Lundmark: 2

Malcom Bourek: I don't want calls to come in either, but only temporarily.
