Galen Gowers: At a $400, I would definetly go the HTiB route. And the two best brands for HTiB systems are without a doubt, Onkyo and Yamaha. You can actually get a pretty decent system for $400.Here are two systems that I would highly recommend at your budget:Here's an Onkyo:http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-S5100-Channel-Enter...Yamaha:http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-YHT-590BL-Home-Theate...Both of those systems are right at your $400 price point and are probably the best you can get for your money. Two brands that I would NOT recommend are Bose and Sony. Sony makes good tv's, but their audio stuff is crap, and Bose is WAY overpriced for what you get....Show more
Shelley Stevens: I own a RCA RT2870(Avalible at walmart)It is awesome
Pasty Cobbett: Well, as an audio/video enthusiast, $400 will get you just about anything that makes alot of noise. But as the other have suggested, getting a Yamaha or Sony system would be an ideal choice. They are decent quality & offer! alot of bang for the buck. But I would suggest you step up the budget a bit and go ahead & get a really good system with a Blu-ray player to compliment your new big TV. I linked you a really good system that I highly recommend. It is over your budget, but I assure you that it's worth it. I have a 32" flat screen and Blu-ray & the video is unbelievable. Since they are sold out at this time, it suggests a very popular system among the masses. Check it out & g'luck! ...Show more
Ramon Dahlheimer: With a $400 budget, I'd look into a home theater in a box system, HTIB. You can find these at any of your local electronics stores. Places, like Best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's Electronics, Walmart, etc... You should be able to find a decent system at this price. What you didn't say though is if the $400 would include a DVD player or not? If not I'd check into an Onkyo system that includes the receiver, subwoofer, and speakers.Take a look at this one. It's got a lot of featur! es and should sound pretty good. Good Luck!http://shop4.frys.! com/product/5586520...Show more
