Rachell Meese: I would make sure you test that thing before you buy it as 50$ is kinda cheap. I have several cb radios one is a handheld and they arent very good either way you look at it. I do like midland though and if you only need about a mile of radius (2 if your lucky) pick that thing up and take it.
Lynn Melbourne: An telescoping type would be about the best you can get for a handheld.Example: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?produc...
Bernadette Roel: If the antenna is detachable, then depending on the connection to the radio, you can add another antenna with an SO-239 - ??? adapter. If it's a mobile antenna you're wanting, and you don't want a 9' quarter-wave whip, then I'd recommend a Firestik-type antenna, mounted in the center of the (metal) roof for best results. You may need a very strong magnet-mount for this configuration, but you should be happy with the resulting performance.
Elinore Schlinker: A metal rod.
