Home Theater Setup Question?

Jeannine Vassie: Or do you know of a Home Theater system that will take at least 3 HDMI cables in so I can run three of them to that and then use the output on the HT to the TV. I am assuming that is possible also correct?

Kate Baune: Unfortunately you may be out of luck when it comes to using the Digital Audio Out for all of your sound. I have a 52" Samsung and it only outputs 5.1 digital audio for over-the-air channels picked up with the internal tuner. Everything else comes in as 2.0 channel audio.I have and would suggest a Sony STR-DG720. It has three HDMI inputs as well as two optical inputs. I would suggest hooking the PS3 through the HDMI to get all 7.1 channels that you could not get through the optical output. For the others you could use a HDMI input for the TV and the optical in from the device for Sound. To keep it all somewhat easy I would suggest getting a Harmony One remote. Just program all the information in and it changes all the inputs on ! your devices to the correct settings. My wife refuses to use our entertainment center without it....Show more

Myron Leftwich: The weak spot in that picture is the "DD 5.1" system. The speakers and receiver are cheap $200 box system that basically gives you 1 input for sound. Many of these systems only take left/right analog input so you loose all the 5.1 sound. That picture gets away with it because it uses the 2 inputs on the television to let you hook up 2 devices. You are SOL if you try and hook up a HD cable or HD sat or any other device. You really want to go with a ful-sized AV receiver with a 'forest' of spare inputs to let you hook up more things. So no - it is not a good setup, it is sub-standard or has zero ability to expand....Show more

Davida Gisriel: TVs do not pass surround sound. In order to hear surround sound from a particular component you must send the audio directly to a surround sound receiver. You can do this with as many components as y! ou can hook into the receiver. The receiver can then play the! surround soundtracks through any attached speakers/subwoofers while sending the video out to the TV.See if you can find an Onkyo TX-SR606....Show more

Stanton Villao: most of the better receivers can work as an HDMI switcher all but the lower end Yamaha and pioneer receivers will do that for you any of the 7.1 receivers the onkyo and some sony as well you just have to pick the options you need HDMI switching HDMI pass through Upconvert to 1080 p zone one zone two ect and shop price
