Leisa Brodnex: Such a touchy subject race. I believe that Powell is a smart man, however, I think he's letting race make his judgment for him. As are many people during this election. Personally, I was not surprised. I do think Powell needs to consider more then his race on this vote, but to each his own.I'm sure many people are going to think you're racist because you've posted this, even if you are not (I don't know if you are because I don't know you), but remember the pot calls the kettle black!...Show more
Dexter Dicostanzo: I'm not surprised. Powell only has his career in mind, not the good of the people. Obama has already said that Powell would have a spot in Obama's administration. I hope it backfires on Powell.
Miguel Koczela: idk. its his own friggin choice anways :P
Pei Heatherly: No, It's about belief and trust. Everyone knows McCain is mixed up already.
Ricky Frazer: Yeah I'm surprised because I thought he was smart.
Clinton! Migliori: why does this have to be a race thing?its about his support of the ideas, he wasn't bush's "brother"
Inge Mclaurine: I think that people are surprised that General Powell is backing Obama because Powell is a REPUBLICAN who was once a strong supporter of the invasion of Iraq.As we all know, Obama is at direct odds with Powell. Obama is NOT a fan of the war and is a strong Democrat. Obama is also a critic of President Bush, who was once Powell's boss and leader. However, over time General Powell became disappointed and disillusioned with the Iraq War, President Bush, and the Republican Party. In fact, in 2004, Powell referred to neoconservatives within the Bush administration as "******* crazies."When Powell announced his endorsement of Obama, he stated the following: "Over the last seven weeks, the approach of the Republican Party has become narrower and narrower. I look at these kind of approaches to the campaign, and they trouble me."As a result, Powell is ! now supporting Obama for President....Show more
Elfreda ! Grossen: BTW: Do not insult my intelligence by calling me a racist. I am not upset and could not care less that General Powell endorsed Obama.
Sherita Gallati: I don't know. I also don't think its about ethnicity. Unless you think every White person who backed McCain did so because of ethnicity. Is that why Lieberman is there?
Thomas Riner: Yes, surprised and heart broken! This man stood before the UN General Assembly and the people of this country and told us that Iraq posed a threat to the US.He helped to send American Soldiers to war. Now he sides with the one man who speciously states he was against the war back when he was a useless Illinois STATE legislator.Powell just slapped each and every member in Uniform in the Face!...Show more
Hai Biggart: Powell is an unimpeachably great American. To help you out: Imagine McCain being an actual military success -- and not a huge failure. Like that....You get the idea....Show more
Toney Flaten: ON! LY IN UR EYES... THIS IS WHAT IY=TAKES FOR U TO JUSTIFY POWELLS ENDORSEMENT .... AND ITS SAD. BUT I'M PLEASED IT INSULTS U SO.... THE MAN TOOK ALL THE WIND OUT OF UR SAILS... NOW GO GET URSELF A TISSU
Ulrike Hert: so unless his endorsement was for mccain he's making it on the basis of race. thats pretty stupid.
Isaias Badgley: You forgot fair-minded and intelligent. He's smart enough to realize that McCain will continue with the Bush policies that forced him to resign in the first place. I like the idea of Obama having him as an adviser.
Caryl Mclaen: Powell is doing it for the same reason a lot of people are: because he hates Palin, and thinks McCain was crazy to choose her.
Tereasa Sorensen: this is ridiculous....the reason and I know what you said is true, has lost all my respect.
Kaley Lappas: People are surprised because General Powell is a conservative Republican and Senator Obama is a very liberal Democrat.
David Boehler: yeah or! white. because we all know whites stick together
