Dental Assistant to Dental Hygienist?

Antonia Quinnett: I went to a community college for my A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene after working for many years as an assistant. (I didn't want to spend the rest of my life filling up amalgam carriers! ;D) The know how I had as an assistant served me very well in college. The terminology, the practical experience was invaluable.I'm semi-retired now, but the last full time job I had in hygiene, I made $35/hour, plus an extra $50 for every quad of deep scaling/root planing.I did it in 2 years, but many girls do it in 3 because of all the "electives" - psych, sociology, statistics, etc.Go for it!!!!!!...Show more
