Adapter for optical out and RCA in!?

Peter Lapoint: Wow $37 I'm sorry to hear about that. Here are two converters, one from coax(RCA) to optical, the other from optical to coax(RCA).http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id...http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id......Show more

Bettye Arre: RCA audio is usually left/right analog. Are they red and white? If so - your gear is standard def, not HDTV. HDTV tends to use HDMI or optical to carry 5.1 sound. You bought a soundbar that has optical in for a HDTV, but all your gear is old, standard def. There is nothing I know of that will take left/right analog and up-convert to optical 5.1.Update your DVR to a HD Version and it should have optical output. Your TV should also have optical out unless it is not a HDTV or a lower end model....Show more

Dorethea Beaston: This is not as simple as it sounds. You are trying to interconnect different generations of devices and that can be problematic. While there are a number of analog stereo t! o optical (and digital coax) converters (see links for 2) ... your soundbar is intended to provide a form of surround sound. In other words it expects a multichannel input (probably an AC-3 dolby digital signal) and, at best, it won't work right with a stereo signal (which is all a converter will output). Furthermore, output from the converters will be PCM stereo ... which may or may not work with your soundbar. You don't provide model numbers so I can't help. You will have to check your manual....Show more
